Stop Support of Suspected Ethnic Cleansing and War Crimes

Target: Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of United Arab Emirates

Goal: Sanction companies suspected of giving aid and comfort to military factions accused of war crimes.

Cherished historical artifacts are being destroyed. Over two-thirds of hospitals have been shuttered. More than a million people have become refugees. Explosions are indiscriminately rocking communities. Sexual violence is reportedly rampant. And in one horrific signal of ethnic cleansing, a mass grave filled with 80-plus bodies of slaughtered ethnic minorities was uncovered. This is the reality of life in Sudan since two warring military factions began their bloodlust for power mere months ago.

The International Criminal Court is investigating potential war crimes, and the United Nations warns of a humanitarian catastrophe eclipsing the atrocities that befell the Darfur region decades ago if this conflict is not resolved. Yet several brokered ceasefires have been violated, forcing foreign aid advocates to explore other options. The United Kingdom (in the process of evacuating children with British citizenship from Sudan) has taken one approach by sanctioning companies with links to the warring parties. But this region does not have nearly the influence or impact on the companies as Arab states like the United Arab Emirates.

Sign the petition below to urge this important influencer to join the United Kingdom in making a decisive statement against this bloody civil war.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Sheikh bin Zayed Al Nahyan,

The Sudanese people are suffering and dying in numbers not seen in decades. The current conflict between the Sudanese military and the RTF is causing tremendous and horrific collateral damage. The organizations who are helping sustain these merciless military factions should pay a hefty price.

The United Kingdom has taken a stand with strong sanctions against these organizations, and now they need you to unite in the effort. Please take this small but potentially consequential step in ending a humanitarian crisis that could leave a deadly and atrocious mark on history.

Sincerely,
