Puppy Reportedly Strangled and Exposed to Cocaine: Demand Maximum Penalties

Target: William Snyder, Sheriff, Martin County Sheriff’s Office, Florida

Goal: Pursue maximum animal cruelty penalties against the individual accused of allegedly strangling a crying puppy later reportedly found suffering from cocaine exposure.

Authorities launched a disturbing animal cruelty investigation after witnesses reportedly observed a man wrapping a puppy’s leash around the animal’s throat and lifting the dog off the ground by the leash. Multiple bystanders reportedly heard the five-month-old puppy crying, choking, and struggling to bark during the incident. Witnesses stated the puppy reportedly cried out repeatedly whenever it was released back onto the ground.

According to investigators, the suspect walked away afterward and reportedly told neighbors the puppy was suffering from a seizure and needed medical care. A responding deputy transported the dog, described as a beagle-pug mix, to an emergency veterinary hospital. Veterinary personnel reportedly determined the puppy was suffering from cocaine exposure, which investigators believe may have contributed to the animal’s medical distress.

The suspect was later arrested on animal cruelty charges while the puppy remained in protective custody with the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast. If substantiated, these allegations would represent extreme cruelty and reckless endangerment involving a defenseless young animal. Strong prosecution is necessary to ensure accountability and protect other vulnerable animals.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Sheriff Snyder,

A man is accused of strangling a five-month-old puppy with its leash while witnesses reportedly heard the animal choking and crying in distress. Veterinary staff later apparently discovered the puppy was suffering from cocaine exposure.

Investigators believe the conduct may have placed the young dog in life-threatening danger. If proven, the reported actions would represent severe cruelty and reckless disregard for the wellbeing of a vulnerable animal.

We urge your office to pursue maximum penalties under applicable animal cruelty laws and ensure strong protections for the surviving puppy.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
