Pet Rats Abandoned and Left to Die Deserve Justice

At Block 52 Cassia Crescent in Geylang, Singapore, two pet rats were discovered in a soiled cage, abandoned at the Housing Board void deck. The distressing condition in which they were found, coupled with the apparent neglect they endured, raises serious concerns about animal welfare.

The discovery was made by a vigilant individual, Stomper Tengku, who promptly reported the situation to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). Photographs taken by Stomper Tengku reveal the two rodents, identified as fancy rats, huddled together in a corner of the cage, which was visibly unclean. Basic necessities such as cucumber, food pellets, and water were present but insufficient to meet the animals’ needs.

This act of cruelty and neglect towards these defenseless creatures is a clear violation of ethical principles and a reflection of the mistreatment and abandonment of animals. Such actions not only harm the well-being and dignity of living beings but also contravene Singapore’s commitment to upholding high standards of animal welfare. Take action now.
