Dozens of Wild Horses Shot and Left to Die in Desert Deserve Justice

Target: Grand County Sheriff Jamison Wiggins
Goal: Capture the person(s) responsible for slaughtering wild horses in the desert.

Out in the desert near Moab, Utah, people have been finding dozens of dead wild horses with bullet holes in their sculls. According to two brothers who have been finding many of the horses, a typical day is like – “We find two down here. Three right here, four up there. Five, six, seven, eight, nine…”

“Oh my goodness that’s a lot of horses,” his brother exclaims. “Someone went to town.”

Who that “someone” is, authorities do not know. What they do know, however, is that someone is prowling the desert, hunting wild horses with a gun.

Some people have speculated that the killer is a local cattle rancher. Historically, many cattle ranchers have run into conflicts with wild horses, since the horses graze the same grasses that cows eat. This has lead to many ranchers advocating for the extermination of wild horse herds.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Sheriff Wiggins,

In the desert of Grand County, Utah, dozens of wild horses have been turning up dead with bullet holes in their skulls. According to two brothers who have been finding many of the horses, there are dozens of these poor animals lying out in the desert.

There is no indication that your office has identified a suspect, nor have you released details on the status of the investigation. We sincerely hope that you are working hard to build a case.

Some people have speculated that the killer is a local cattle rancher. Historically, many cattle ranchers have run into conflicts with wild horses, since the horses graze the same grasses that cows eat. This has lead to many ranchers advocating for the extermination of wild horse herds.

Whoever the killer is, please dedicate sufficient resources to find and arrest the person or persons responsible for these heinous killings.

Sincerely,
[Your Name Here]

Whether it be a cattle rancher no one knows but lets just hope an active investigation is taking place regarding the slaughter of these wild horses. So tragic that a killer is on the loose hunting these wild animals down.

  2. Jane+Morrow says:

You can just about guarantee its some scumbag rancher – that murdering home invader deserves a similar fate. Don’t rely on the authorities to do anything, the BLM want them gone. How America treats its iconic wild horses is appalling.

    • janet Needler says:

yes the BLM is composed of ranchers and explorers –they aren’t grateful that they can graze a cow and calf for under $4.00 a year( two animals).. they need to buy their own land if they are going to kill animals on the land that we taxpayers LET them use -we can stop this but the authorities are afraid of the Bundys and other people that want to use our land to make their profits instead of being grateful they have been allowed to use the land

  3. Urszula Lund says:

This is an EXTREME ENVIRONMENTAL CRIME that needs to be thoroughly investigated, and perpetrators of this massacre must be found and punished with many years behind bars!
NO excuse! NO mercy for these scumbags!

    • janet Needler says:

I second your opinion !! these ranchers have been given a great deal (under $4.00 for a CALF and Cow to graze per year) –they need to buy some of their own land!! the public land should be taken off the market for ungrateful people

  4. Nadine+brundage says:

I’m sure someone out there knows who is killing these horses. Naturally we think of ranchers committing this heartless cruelty, but it could also be some nut job killing for the thrill of it. These horses is what this country stands for, Freedom and more needs to be done to protect our wild horses who should forever be free.

  5. Robin Abbott says:

This is for certain a cattle rancher! They are the only psychopaths that hate wild horses! So F’d Up!

    • janet Needler says:

yes –there is a history of the Bundy’s and their buddies claiming they own the land because they are citizens -cattle ranchers have poisoned horses and burros —

  6. Cheryl Miller says:

The bastard(s) that did this must be found. They deserve to be taken to the desert & shot dead

  13. Paula Long says:

Our government needs to be finding out what happened and prosecute other offenders. Just praying it isn’t our government that is killing these innocent animals. Probably ranchers not wanting to share land for grazing!

What will the authorities “really” do ? That is the big question!
