Wildlife Allegedly Trapped for Meat as Police Stall: Demand Swift Arrests and Enforcement

Target: Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, Inspector General of Police, Islamabad Capital Territory, Pakistan

Goal: Make immediate arrests, file all applicable wildlife and cruelty charges, and shut down any trapping network reportedly capturing wild and domestic animals for meat.

Residents and advocates report repeat trapping of wild and domestic animals along Islamabad’s E-7 hill road, with video said to show foreign nationals handling captured wildlife and transporting carcasses or live animals in private cars. The activity reportedly includes foxes, monkeys, rabbits, wild boars, and even dogs. A recovered steel trap, now in official custody, was reportedly linked to an injured dog who required veterinary care. Complaints were filed and a report registered, yet community members say no visible enforcement followed.

Law requires decisive action when protected fauna are hunted, trapped, or traded. Even one active trap can seed multiple cruelties in a single night while posing risks to children, pets, and hikers. When credible footage captures vehicles, faces, and plates, swift seizure of devices, forensic downloads of phones, and coordinated arrests should follow. Delays erode deterrence and invite more clandestine hunts.

This petition asks Islamabad Police to treat the case as a priority. Sign below to demand arrests based on available evidence, charges under applicable wildlife and anti-cruelty statutes, seizure of vehicles and gear used in the alleged crimes, and coordination with the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board for expert support. Public updates and a dedicated hotline for trail-area tips can restore confidence and protect animals who cannot speak for themselves.

PETITION LETTER:

Inspector General Rizvi,

Reports and video evidence indicate repeat trapping and removal of wild and domestic animals near the E-7 hill road. Community members and officials have submitted complaints and a report, and one trap recovered by authorities has apparently been linked to harm. Despite this, residents describe a lack of visible progress and continued fear for local wildlife and pets.

We respectfully urge immediate enforcement steps: execute arrests based on existing evidence, file all appropriate wildlife and cruelty counts, and seize any vehicles, traps, and tools connected to the case. Please coordinate with the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board for expert identification, veterinary documentation, and safe handling. We also ask for a brief public update and a dedicated reporting channel so witnesses feel heard and protected.

A firm, transparent response will deter future poaching and cruelty while reinforcing trust in lawful stewardship of Islamabad’s hills and neighborhoods.

Sincerely,
