Trainer Reportedly Beat Horse With Helmet: Demand Justice

Target: Martin Hinton KC, Director of Public Prosecutions, South Australia

Goal: Seek full prosecution and appropriate penalties after a trainer was allegedly filmed repeatedly striking a horse with a helmet and previously whipping other horses.

A court has heard deeply disturbing allegations that an equestrian trainer was filmed repeatedly striking a horse with a riding helmet while holding the animal so it could not escape. According to the prosecuting case, the horse was hit multiple times, flinching with each blow, while the accused was heard shouting profanities and aggressive remarks. The incident was described in court as “confronting,” and the horse was allegedly unable to move away during the beating.

Prosecutors presented further allegations that, on prior occasions, horses were whipped for extended periods during training sessions. One witness claimed that a horse was whipped for several minutes while a young rider cried, and that another horse was struck on its legs while the trainer yelled in anger. An expert in animal behaviour testified that there is “no rationale” for striking a horse in the head and that such actions would cause pain and distress. The accused has pleaded not guilty and reportedly maintains that any harm was allegedly necessary in the context of training.

Animals used in sport are entirely dependent on human care and protection. When credible allegations of repeated violent conduct surface, thorough legal scrutiny is essential. A transparent prosecution and meaningful penalties, if wrongdoing is proven, are necessary to uphold humane training standards and protect horses from any further mistreatment.

PETITION LETTER:

Director Hinton,

We write to express grave concern regarding reports that a trainer was filmed repeatedly striking a horse with a helmet while shouting profanities, as well as whipping other horses in prior incidents. Testimony presented in court suggests the horse flinched with each blow and was unable to escape.

Expert evidence indicated that striking a horse in the head has no training justification and would cause pain and distress. These serious allegations, if proven, point to conduct that subjected defenseless animals to unnecessary suffering.

We respectfully urge your office to pursue a thorough and transparent prosecution and to seek appropriate penalties should the court find the accused guilty. Strong enforcement is essential to protect horses, deter any recurrence of alleged abuse, and affirm that cruelty in sport will not be tolerated.

Sincerely,

Horses are gentile creatures and that’s what they answer to!!!!!!You do not have to be a horse trainer or handler to know that striking a horse or any animal in any fashion IS NOT TRAINING BUT ANIMAL CRUELTY…which should have legal consequences!

These so called trainers should have their license revoked and should be prosecuted to the full. Turning a blind eye will exacerbate the problem!

This is so disgusting. It makes me so angry that these fools get away with just a slap on the hand. Too bad l wasn’t there, l may have asked him how he would like getting struck in the head with a hard object, not even knowing what he, the poor horse did wrong. These people are a menace to society and their next step is to abuse people or kill them. Please set an example for once. Help our abused society of animals. WHY DOES THIS CONTINUE????

This piece of rubbish should be banned from so called “training”. Perhaps he might like a bit of “training” in return.

  4. This idiot was no horse trainer – he was nothing but an animal abuser. Horses are gentle creatures – they respond to love and kindness. I have ridden and showed horses for a number of years and have never once struck any of my horses – there is never a need to inflict pain on them or any other animal for that matter. These asshole should never have any other horses or any animals for that matter – lock him up throw away the key forever. Just know that karma will eventually reach out to you you useless POS. In the meantime he needs to be away from any animal.

  5. Training does not and never has and never will include beating and whipping a horse or any animal. I hope this ‘trainer’ is prosecuted to the full extent of the law and never allowed near horses again. HE MADE A CHILD CRY FOR HEAVENS SAKE. Obviously the child knew this was wrong. I hope the courts and the judge do.

I had a horse many years ago. I’ll never forget seeing a rider who boarded his horse where I did cruelly beat him with a riding crop because he wouldn’t take a jump. This was 47 years ago & it still plays back like it was yesterday, very disturbing. Anyone who treats horses as brutally as this should never be allowed near one again, let alone be allowed to be a trainer.

  7. This brain damaged bastard should be in prison. That is where all of his ancestors originated from. Australia was the worlds biggest penal colony. That is why it is such a cruel, backwards, evil country full of animal abusing savages. Every single person is descended from criminals so vile that they were shipped to this country to keep them far away from decent human beings Australia was nothing but a big giant jail.
