Child Victim in Football Star’s Alleged Abuse Case Deserves Justice

Target: Chris Carr, Attorney General of Georgia

Goal: Ensure football player is held accountable for charges of domestic violence and child abuse.

Georgia football wide receiver Rara Thomas has been charged with one felony count of cruelty to children in the second degree and two counts of family violence battery. The charges stem from a domestic violence incident that occurred early Friday morning on Mill Creek Way in Athens. Police responded to the call at 1:34 a.m., leading to Thomas’s arrest and booking into Clarke County Jail.

Thomas, a senior expected to be a top receiver this season, had previously faced legal issues. In January 2023, he was charged with misdemeanor battery/family violence and felony false imprisonment by the university police department. He entered pretrial diversion for the battery charge, while the false imprisonment charge was dismissed due to insufficient evidence.

The recent allegations have sparked outrage and concern, highlighting the urgent need for justice. It is crucial to ensure that Thomas is held accountable for his alleged actions and that the legal system imposes appropriate consequences for such serious offenses. The safety and well-being of the victims, particularly the child involved, must be a priority. Take immediate action.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Attorney General Chris Carr,

I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the recent case involving Georgia football player Rara Thomas, who has been charged with felony cruelty to children in the second degree and family violence battery. These allegations are extremely serious and warrant a thorough investigation and appropriate legal action.

Thomas has a history of legal issues related to family violence, and it is essential to ensure that justice is served in this case. The safety and well-being of the victims, especially the child involved, must be prioritized.

I urge you to take all necessary measures to ensure that Rara Thomas faces the maximum legal consequences for his actions. It is vital to send a strong message that such behavior will not be tolerated and that those who commit acts of cruelty and violence will be held accountable.

Sincerely,

  1. Too often our society excuses these pompous football heroes but then they are not charged and later they well may have destroyed the lives of kids such as in this case. He has been in trouble before but has not cleaned up his act and obviously beats up those he feels deserve his violence. No one deserves his violence or anyone’s violence. Charge him! Take him to court. Only through making people like this accountable in the news will alert other players not to fall into this trap of violence. We do have laws so use them! Our laws are there to protect the innocent not the guilty.
