Cat Allegedly Mutilated and Poisoned in Public Park: Seek Accountability

Target: Nikola Milina, Director General of Police, Ministry of the Interior, Zagreb, Croatia

Goal: Pursue all lawful penalties if the evidence supports allegations that a community cat was mutilated and poisoned in a public area, causing prolonged suffering and death.

Authorities opened a criminal investigation after a community cat returned from a nearby public park with catastrophic injuries before later dying. According to official reports, local police responded after veterinary professionals and caregivers alerted authorities to circumstances suggesting severe animal cruelty.

The two-year-old cat returned with its tail completely severed by what authorities suspect may have been a heavy bladed instrument. Veterinary responders reported that the animal began exhibiting symptoms consistent with toxic ingestion shortly afterward before ultimately dying despite emergency care. Police secured the area, collected surveillance footage, and began interviewing potential witnesses. Authorities also initiated forensic toxicology testing to determine whether poison contributed to the animal’s death. Animal welfare organizations have offered a financial reward for information leading to the identification of the responsible individual. No suspect has been identified, no arrest has been made, and no court has determined criminal liability.

If the evidence establishes that a community animal was deliberately mutilated and poisoned in a public place, meaningful accountability would be appropriate. Acts of violence against defenseless animals may also create broader public safety concerns. Thorough investigation and vigorous enforcement of Croatia’s animal protection laws remain essential to deter similar conduct.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Director General Milina,

Authorities responded after a community cat suffered devastating injuries and later died under circumstances that prompted a criminal investigation. The cat’s tail was severed and forensic testing is underway to determine whether deliberate poisoning also contributed to its death. Those circumstances remain subject to judicial determination, and investigators continue working to identify the responsible individual.

Please ensure that this investigation receives every available investigative resource and that, if a suspect is identified, all lawful penalties are pursued. If investigators establish the culpability of the individual responsible, appropriate accountability should follow under Croatian law.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
