Don’t Let Revenge-Fueled Decisions Endanger American Security

Target: Tulsi Gabbard, Director of National Security

Goal: Stop punishing civil servants for perceived disloyalty to the president and undermining national security in the process.

From television studios to attorneys’ offices to the halls of the CIA, an increasing number of Americans are falling victim to an administration that seems more focused on revenge campaigns than public service campaigns to benefit the people. The president has successfully weaponized the Federal Communications Commission to remove yet another TV show host with whom he disagrees, and he has threatened the operating licenses of entire stations because of coverage he deems unfavorable to him. The president has also used the Department of Justice to arbitrarily fire attorneys who were affiliated with cases he didn’t like, including an attorney who secured a successful fraud judgment against him and even the attorney who could not dig up any evidence to file charges against said attorney. But perhaps the most troubling casualty in this far-reaching trail of retribution is national security itself.

One of the aforementioned fired attorneys currently heads the district most responsible for handling espionage and terrorism cases, and his absence will leave a big hole likely to be filled by a political yes-man. A similar pattern is emerging at the CIA, where dozens of career agents and analysts have had their security clearances revoked (essentially ending their careers) because they were viewed as not “loyal” enough to the president and his partisan politics. Among the individuals affected were an undercover CIA analyst who had her cover blown during the revocations and a genius-level recruit regarded as one of America’s top experts on rapidly developing AI technology. The CIA shakeups led to a public clash between the director of the nation’s intelligence agency and the director of national security. The latter is widely believed to be implementing these dismissals to curry more favor with the president after she herself had gotten on his bad side by reporting the true assessments of an earlier military strike against Iran.

Sign the petition below to demand the leader of America’s national security apparatus stop making politically motivated moves that belittle her own mission to protect and safeguard American interests.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Director Gabbard,

“The U.S. government is the big loser here.” It’s a simple, direct, and true statement made by a former high-level intelligence official in regards to the security clearance revocation of an intelligence officer recruited before he even turned 18 – an AI genius who will likely take his irreplaceable insights elsewhere. He and 37 other agents and analysts became collateral damage of a politicized retribution campaign.

“Individuals who have violated the trust placed in them by weaponizing, politicizing, manipulating, or leaking classified intelligence” – the unspecified and vague allegations against these men and women – seem more like projection at this moment. Please reflect on the oath you took to protect and serve an entire nation, not one man. Stop weaponizing this department against Americans while America’s enemies celebrate a job well done.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
