Target: Keir Starmer, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom
Goal: Honor global climate goals and solidify investment in clean energy.
Global leaders have made many pledges in recent years regarding the climate crisis. They have committed to keeping the global temperature rise below two degrees; they have promised to invest in clean energy; they have vowed to bring their countries within net zero carbon emissions in the coming decades. But these pledges are being called into serious doubt.
At the recent COP29 global summit on climate change, representatives from only two of the seven most economically powerful countries in the world attended. Experts fear that the recent U.S. presidential election – and the expected mass rollback on environmental efforts in the coming year – will give other influential nations an excuse to curtail their own climate-focused goals. While the leader of the United Kingdom (UK) has pledged that his region’s environmental initiatives will move forward, promises are routinely being broken.

PETITION LETTER:
Dear Prime Minister Starmer,
“The climate challenge is something that we have got to rise to, and that’s why I’ve repeatedly said we’ve got to show leadership.” You made this strong statement when asked about the US and the UK stances on environmental goals. You also championed more investment in clean energy and other eco-friendly measures.
Nations around the planet are understandably skeptical about any claims made regarding mitigating the climate crisis. But you were one of only a few with influence that showed up for the recent global climate conference. When much of the world seems to be ignoring or abandoning these crucial efforts, please remain steadfast in your commitment to net zero emissions, to alternative energy sources, and to lowering the temperature on an overcooked Earth.
Help the UK become the leader the world urgently needs.
Sincerely,
