PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Roberts,

The legacy of South Dakota’s stunning landscapes and precious water bodies faces a dire threat that demands your decisive action. As the steward of the state’s environment and natural resources, your pivotal role in safeguarding the cherished water quality is paramount.

The expansion of mining operations, devoid of adequate safeguards, has unleashed a specter of contamination that hovers over the waterways. We cannot afford to sacrifice the purity of the waters for the short-term gains of an industry that recklessly disregards its environmental responsibilities.

It falls upon you, as the guardian of the state’s natural heritage, to put an immediate halt to the expansion of these perilous mining operations. The repercussions of inaction could be devastating, leaving behind a trail of polluted waters, depleted ecosystems, and the loss of livelihoods dependent on a thriving environment.

The call for action is driven by a shared responsibility to protect the delicate equilibrium that nature has bestowed upon us. We beseech you to act swiftly and decisively, ensuring that South Dakota’s waters remain an emblem of purity, sustainability, and life.
