Demand Justice Amid Reports of Four Dogs Found Dead and Puppies Starving

Target: Roger Johnson, Prosecuting Attorney, Boone County, Missouri

Goal: Vigorously prosecute allegations that dogs at a breeding kennel endured starvation, death, and extreme neglect, and seek serious penalties if the charges are proven.

Four dead dogs were reportedly discovered inside outdoor kennels during a search of a German Shepherd breeding property. Investigators also say they found a litter of starving puppies exposed to the elements without adequate sustenance, along with more than a dozen dog skulls and decomposed skeletal remains packed into black garbage bags across the property.

Melissa Sanders, associated with the Magnum Opus kennel, faces 13 felony counts of animal abuse and an additional misdemeanor cruelty charge. Prosecutors allege that she was responsible for animals kept under conditions that resulted in severe suffering and death. Sanders has not been convicted, and every allegation must be established in court.

The trial has been postponed while the defense reviews extensive forensic veterinary evidence. The delay should not diminish the seriousness of the case. Necropsy findings, veterinary reports, photographs, breeding records, property evidence, and witness testimony should be preserved and presented thoroughly so the charges can reach a fair resolution.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Prosecuting Attorney Johnson,

Investigators searching a German Shepherd breeding property reportedly found four dead dogs, starving puppies, numerous dog skulls, and decomposed skeletal remains stored in black garbage bags. These discoveries have resulted in multiple felony animal-abuse charges.

Melissa Sanders faces 13 felony counts and one misdemeanor cruelty charge. The postponement of the October trial should provide time to evaluate the extensive forensic evidence without allowing this prosecution to lose momentum.

Please continue pursuing the case diligently and present all admissible veterinary, necropsy, photographic, and property evidence. If the charges are proven beyond a reasonable doubt, seek serious penalties reflecting the suffering and deaths established in court. Bring this case to trial and pursue full accountability for every offense ultimately proven.

Sincerely,
