Cats Killed With Rodenticide-Laced Fish: Demand Swift Justice

Target: Khaled Nouri, Minister of the Interior, Tunisia

Goal: Identify and prosecute whoever hid concentrated rodenticide inside fish near community feeding stations, killing four cats and leaving others suffering severe neurological convulsions.

Four stray cats were discovered dead near a public waste-disposal site used by a managed feline colony. Three additional cats were found suffering severe neurological convulsions. Emergency veterinary intervention saved two survivors, and examinations determined that the animals had ingested food contaminated with highly concentrated rodenticide.

A subsequent search uncovered several discarded fish carcasses mixed with distinctive blue chemical pellets concealed beneath the colony’s feeding stations. Authorities are investigating whether someone positioned the contaminated fish where community cats were likely to consume it. Previous disagreements concerning the neighborhood’s growing stray population have been documented, but investigators have not identified anyone responsible. Municipal surveillance footage is being analyzed while residents have been advised to keep companion animals indoors until decontamination is complete. No court has established criminal liability.

The apparent placement of toxic food beneath established feeding stations makes this case particularly alarming. Poison left in a shared public area could endanger other animals as well. Once identified, authorities must pursue appropriate legal consequences against whoever prepared and distributed the bait if the evidence establishes responsibility.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Minister Nouri,

Four community cats died and three others suffered violent neurological symptoms after consuming food contaminated with concentrated rodenticide. Forensic teams subsequently recovered fish carcasses mixed with blue chemical pellets beneath feeding stations used by the colony.

This investigation deserves sustained attention. Surveillance recordings, forensic examination of the poison, witness accounts, and information concerning access to the chemical could help authorities identify whoever placed the contaminated food.

Please ensure that environmental police receive the resources necessary to pursue every credible lead and protect surviving animals. Once the evidence identifies whoever prepared or distributed this poisoned bait, authorities should pursue prosecution and appropriate penalties under applicable Tunisian law. Four cats lost their lives. Others endured severe poisoning. Their suffering deserves meaningful accountability.

Sincerely,
