Calves Allegedly Kicked, Thrown, and Drowned During Feeding: Pursue Charges

Target: Sarah Crew, Chief Constable, Avon and Somerset Police, England

Goal: Investigate allegations of calves being kicked, thrown, and fatally mishandled during feeding, and support prosecution for substantiated cruelty.

Newborn calves allegedly endured kicks, punches, rough dragging, and being thrown onto concrete at Two Pools Farm. For All Animals reports more than 700 incidents across four days of filming. A further allegation describes a calf drowning after milk entered its lungs during improper tube feeding.

The alleged feeding death and claims of similar losses require veterinary examination of records and footage. Investigators should also assess allegations that workers concealed poor conditions before an inspection. Farm owner Mike King says he was appalled by employees’ behavior, that those involved left, and that training and oversight were strengthened. The farm’s RSPCA Assured membership ended in December 2025.

The allegations call for independent scrutiny of individual conduct and any legally relevant management failures. Urge police to coordinate with livestock welfare authorities, protect animals currently at risk, and support appropriate prosecution wherever the evidence establishes cruelty.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Chief Constable Crew,

Please coordinate an evidence-led investigation into the allegations concerning Two Pools Farm. The reported kicking, punching, throwing, and dragging of young calves warrant close examination. The allegation that incorrect tube feeding caused milk to enter a calf’s lungs and led to death requires a qualified veterinary assessment.

Obtain complete original recordings, feeding and mortality records, treatment logs, and inspection documents. Examine allegations of other similar deaths and a preinspection cleanup intended to conceal mistreatment without presuming that either claim is established. Interview workers and management separately. Consider the owner’s response and verify the measures he says were taken. Ensure welfare checks identify any animal requiring immediate treatment or protection.

Where evidence supports criminal charges, work with the appropriate prosecuting authority to pursue them and present the full extent of proven harm. Examine individual and organizational responsibility according to the evidence and applicable duties. Support proportionate penalties and any legally available restrictions justified by established cruelty. Provide updates when proceedings permit. Calves depend entirely on their caretakers; credible allegations of painful handling and preventable death deserve an independent enforcement response.

Sincerely,
