Target: Bexar County, Texas Criminal District Attorney Joe D. Gonzales
Goal: Give woman longest possible prison sentence for allegedly allowing her dog to starve and die in unsanitary conditions.
A dog’s remains were allegedly found inside a kennel filled with feces. Authorities also said they discovered an unopened bag of dog food in the owner’s apartment, a likely indication that the animal had been neglected for a while. Kylie Winkleman was later arrested after authorities stated she had not provided her Doberman with essential care, which included food and water. Justice demands that she spend time in prison if she is found guilty of such unthinkable cruelty so that other dogs will be less likely to suffer the same fate.
A dog that starves to death dies slowly and painfully. Stomach pain and nausea are common symptoms in the beginning. Later the dog becomes even more distressed when their muscles weaken, and sadly the animal goes through even more pain as their vital organs begin to shut down. Although Winkleman was released on bond, she may still receive a fine of up to $4000 and spend up to 1 year in jail, or possibly both, if this is found to be her first offense. She could—however—face felony charges if she has three or more offenses on record. Demand Winkleman receive the maximum punishment under law if it is discovered this sweet dog died as a result of neglect. Treating an animal in such a deplorable manner should never be tolerated.
PETITION LETTER:
Dear Criminal District Attorney Gonzales,
Kylie Winkleman was arrested for animal neglect after her Doberman was allegedly found deceased inside a kennel littered with feces. Additionally, authorities reported that an unopened bag of dog food was located inside the suspect’s apartment, which is possibly evidence that Winkleman could afford to feed her animal. Officers further stated that the dog had not been provided with appropriate care, and both food and water were suspected to have been withheld from the animal. Winkleman needs to be given the strictest penalty allowed by law if she is found guilty so that she will be less likely to commit such vial future acts toward innocent animals.
When a dog dies of starvation, it is a slow and painful process. After enduring symptoms such as constant nausea, stomach pain, and muscle weakness, the animal’s body painfully disintegrates as the organs deteriorate. For these reasons, I demand you seek the harshest legal sentence possible if Winkleman is found guilty of allowing her dog to suffer and die by means of this vial animal cruelty.
Sincerely,
