A horrifying animal cruelty investigation intensified after a stray puppy suffered fatal burn injuries when an unidentified man threw the animal alive into a burning commercial tandoor outside a roadside dhaba in Chandigarh. A local laborer claimed to have witnessed the incident during the early morning hours and rushed forward in an attempt to rescue the screaming puppy from the flames.
Despite immediate rescue efforts, the puppy succumbed to catastrophic burn injuries shortly afterward. The witness later buried the animal while residents and animal welfare advocates expressed outrage regarding the incident. Authorities subsequently registered a First Information Report under provisions of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
