Three Monkeys and Dog Killed With Poisoned Meat: Seek Justice

Target: Prof. Erustus Kanga, Director General, Kenya Wildlife Service, Kenya

Goal: Investigate a case of poisoned meat that killed three monkeys and a dog near a forest trail, and refer substantiated offenses for prosecution.

Three Sykes’ monkeys and a dog died after encountering pesticide-laced meat near a forest walking trail. The deaths at Karura’s boundary raise an urgent concern for other animals using the area.

Accounts describe meat fragments beneath vegetation and deaths occurring close together. Laboratory findings must establish whether poisoning occurred, which substance was involved, and whether the animals shared an exposure. No person has been identified as responsible, and deliberate placement remains a question for investigation.

Protecting a forest includes responding carefully to credible reports of hazardous material along its edges. Wildlife officers, veterinarians, and police can coordinate the inquiry while assessing any continuing risk. Demand a prompt investigation, safe removal of confirmed hazards, and prosecution wherever evidence establishes intentional poisoning or another offense.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Professor Kanga,

Please arrange a coordinated assessment of the poisoning deaths of  monkey and three dogs near Karura Forest. We ask that your service establish the causes of death and determine whether the suspected meat bait poses a continuing threat to wildlife or domestic animals.

Qualified personnel should document recovery locations, preserve samples for testing, and interview the people who found the animals. Where the findings support it, examine nearby recordings and relevant chemical sales records through lawful channels. Work with police and veterinary authorities on the dog’s case as well as the wildlife deaths. Please give visitors accurate safety information and a clear reporting route, without encouraging them to touch suspected poison or confront people they distrust.

If sufficient evidence establishes an offense, refer a complete case to the competent prosecuting authority and support penalties proportionate to proven conduct. Avoid announcing a particular chemical, motive, or perpetrator before the evidence supports it. Proven deliberate poisoning deserves meaningful accountability. Act on credible evidence, protect animals still at risk, and ensure the inquiry receives sustained professional attention.

Sincerely,
