Target: SV Raja Sekhara Babu, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Vijayawada City, Andhra Pradesh, India
Goal: Impose the harshest punishment allowed, full restitution for veterinary and cleanup costs, and permanent bans on owning or handling animals for whoever mixed poison into food that killed seven community dogs.
Seven community dogs collapsed and died after eating food laced with poison left in their usual feeding area. Caregivers found the animals convulsing; they could not be saved despite immediate efforts. Residents said these dogs were gentle, kept the street free of vermin, and were well known in the neighbourhood.
Animal‑welfare volunteers filed a police complaint and provided samples of the tainted food and the dogs’ remains for forensic testing. Until the toxin’s identity is confirmed, other animals and children remain at risk.
The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and relevant Indian Penal Code sections allow strong penalties. Swift arrests, maximum sentences, restitution for medical examinations and cremation, and lifetime bans on animal ownership will send a clear deterrent message.
PETITION LETTER:
Dear Commissioner,
Seven dogs in Kanuru’s Varalakshmi Puram died after consuming food containing poison. Caregivers witnessed convulsions and rapid deaths, and volunteers provided toxic food samples and remains for forensic testing. This calculated cruelty endangers every animal—and potentially every child—who might touch the contaminated area.
We respectfully urge your department to fast‑track this investigation, secure CCTV footage if possible, interview witnesses, and expedite toxicology. Once responsible parties are identified, please charge them under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and applicable IPC provisions, seek the maximum custodial sentences, and request full restitution for veterinary, necropsy, and cleanup expenses. A permanent prohibition on owning or handling animals and mandatory counselling should accompany any conviction.
A decisive response will honour these dogs, reassure residents, and demonstrate that poisoning animals is a serious crime punished to the fullest extent of the law.
Sincerely,
[Your Name Here]
