Stop Invasion of Americans’ Finances by Billionaires

Target: Scott Bessent, Secretary of U.S. Department of the Treasury

Goal: Do not grant Elon Musk and allies access to private financial information.

The world’s richest man is attempting to gain unfettered access to America’s payment system, with the express approval of the new administration. Reports first emerged that billionaire Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) had been given the keys to the sensitive data overseen by the Department of the Treasury, such as Social Security, Medicare, and tax and salary information of Americans. The department’s deputy secretary, who had served in the treasury for three decades, reportedly resisted this intrusion and has since left his job as a result. He was soon replaced by a Musk ally who will now oversee the treasury’s payments system. This software executive was installed after another Musk ally was forced to resign from his new position within the treasury because of racist social media posts.

DOGE members — most of whom have no experience in the roles to which they have been assigned and who have clear conflicts of interest — have already found their way into 14 federal agencies, with more likely to come. They have exercised an outsized impact on governmental operations, including attempting to buy thousands of federal employees out of their jobs – a maneuver deemed illegal by judges. A judge has also put a temporary halt on Musk and his allies’ access to the treasury department, but this access could be easily restored. If so, DOGE will have the ability to see Americans’ bank account numbers and to stop payments without cause for tax refunds and for Social Security and Medicare.

Sign the petition below to demand the Department of the Treasury take decisive action to keep the foxes out of the henhouse.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Secretary Bessent,

Elon Musk, Tom Krause, and other billionaires associated with DOGE have no business wielding such power over this nation’s coffers. If they continue to run roughshod, then key systems vital to millions of Americans – from Social Security to Medicare to tax refund payments – stand at risk of corruption and retribution-driven stoppage. This permissiveness is already a gross invasion of privacy for every person in the United States.

Former Deputy Secretary David Lebryk had the courage to stand against this blatant power grab. He said: “the Fiscal Service performs some of the most vital functions in government. Our work may be unknown to most of the public, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t exceptionally important.” Where is your courage, Secretary? And who is truly running the treasury, you or Mr. Musk?

A federal judge has already taken the stand you would not, albeit temporarily. Seize back control of a vital department that you made an oath to serve; say ‘no more’ to DOGE and its agenda-driven interests.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
