Stand Up for Cat Who Had Skin Reportedly Torn From Chin

Target: Heather Adams, District Attorney of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania

Goal: Ensure legal consequences for the alleged severe animal cruelty.

A distressing incident unfolded in Lancaster County, where a small cat was reportedly left with horrific injuries, its skin reportedly torn from its chin. The alleged perpetrator, Richard Swangler, faces charges of aggravated cruelty to animals, highlighting a shocking disregard for life. This case, emerging from a home in West Hempfield Township, demands urgent attention and a call for justice.

Upon responding to a bizarre claim of a wild animal, presumed a jaguar, inside a residence, officers encountered not a predator but an apparent victim. Scratches and bites reportedly marked Swangler, yet no wild animal was found. Instead, a search apparently unveiled the injured cat, its condition so grave that immediate veterinary care was deemed necessary. Fortuitously, the cat is expected to recover, a beam of light in a tale otherwise marked by brutality.

This heinous act not only reveals alleged cruelty but also underscores the need for stringent legal measures. Animals, defenseless and reliant on human kindness, deserve protection under the law. We implore the District Attorney of Lancaster County to take decisive action, ensuring that such alleged atrocities do not go unpunished. The demand is clear: uphold justice for the injured cat, sending a message that animal cruelty will not be tolerated.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear District Attorney Heather Adams,

A grievous act of alleged animal cruelty in your jurisdiction demands your immediate attention and action. A small cat, reportedly subjected to unimaginable pain at the hands of Richard Swangler, now serves as a harrowing symbol of the need for legal intervention. The severity of the alleged injuries inflicted upon this innocent animal—its skin ripped from its chin—calls for a resolute response from your office.

This incident, which emerged from an initial report of a wild animal within a home, seemingly unveils a stark reality: animals in our community can become victims of severe cruelty. The evidence, as found by officers responding to the scene, paints a distressing picture of the cat’s suffering. Now, as the cat recuperates, we turn to you with a plea for justice, underscoring the critical role of legal accountability in preventing future acts of cruelty.

We, the undersigned, urge you to prosecute the alleged perpetrator to the fullest extent of the law. By taking decisive action, you will affirm the community’s commitment to compassion and justice for all beings. Let this case be a testament to our collective resolve against cruelty, ensuring that such acts are met not only with societal condemnation but also with stringent legal repercussions.

Sincerely,

Make this person accountable for their heinous act of cruelty.
Being under the influence of illicit drugs is not an excuse.
The person chose to take the drugs!

  6. JoAnne Caravella says:

REALLY WISH THIS FUCKING BASTARD DIED FROM HIS DRUGS. BETTER LUCK WITH DEATH NEXT TIME FUCKER!!

  7. They found the cat so they know his/her gender. I am tired of hearing animals called ‘it’ suggesting an object instead of a living being.Be that as it may, the piece of dreck who did this must be held accountable and punished.

    • Loraine Magda says:

Hi Kate, I am just as horrified by this cruelty to an innocent cat. I’m a total cat (and all animals) lover myself.

I just want to comment on your “it” comment. I see animals as sentient beings with souls, no less advanced spiritually than most humans. I see “it” as a way of avoiding the usual, painful, patriarchal norm of calling every animal “he” as a default. As though “he” is the “norm” in all things, which makes “she” = “other”. I refer to God more often as Source or Spirit or Divine and I refer to it as “it”. I refuse to pander to the patriarchal norms once again that “God is a male”. What a crock. I’d rather we acknowledge that Spirit is “both/and”…ie spans the whole of creation. So I’d rather say “it” than the patriarchal “he” and be done with it. Fairs fair.

      • Joyce O'Malley says:

        I agree

      • The patriarchy has NOTHING to do with animals, especially cats!! Stop being so obsessed with something as overrated and talked way too much about such as the patriarchy. The more you talk about it, the more power you give to it. If you look for the patriarchy everywhere YOU’RE GOING TO FIND IT. What a miserable life to lead!!! Stop it. Go find wonder and love, not gloom and doom.

If this cat is a male, call him a he. Don’t be afraid to do so. If the very sight of the word “he” is offensive to you, then call the cat a they, which encompasses both genders (both because cats do not decide upon their own gender as some humans do).

Cats don’t care about human things like patriarchy. And no, a cat won’t care if you call him or her an it, but hasn’t this particular cat been through enough?! Respect that this cat has a gender. Gender is a Very Important Thing these days. Please respect this cat’s gender assigned at birth! 🥹🥹🥹 Call this cat a they at the very least. It denotes an inanimate object which has no way to reproduce.

    • I agree with you. If gender is SO important to people these days, extend that courtesy to animals as well. They’re sentient beings who are male or female. Those without genders are an it, such as some sea creatures, but cats are male or female (or rarely both aka a hermaphrodite).

  8. Just give the piece of shit a taste of his own medicine – skin him alive!

  9. I hope you get the treatment and not just a slap on the wrist you worthless POS!!!!

    • Joyce O'Malley says:

Animal abuse is a violent crime – this person should be prosecuted fined and put in jail!! I hope the cat gets better, this story should be in the news so people know who this person is!! No animals allowed for life!!

  10. Feet first into a wood chipper while coming down from the drug fueled psychosis. Let that filthy shit bag know the real meaning of pain

  11. “Richard Swangler, faces charges of aggravated cruelty to animals” The media needs to shame this drug addict and force him into rehab. People like this need to be incarcerated if they don’t want to go to rehaf. They are a danger to animals and other people. Someone’s addiction is no excuse for abuse towards other living beings, especially innocent animals without a voice. Prosecute this monster to the fullest extent of the law and put him with the hard core criminals where he will experience the same treatment he showed the innocent feline.

  12. Kathleen Norton says:

Too bad he didn’t overdose, better luck next time Loser!

  13. Cindy Miller says:

Come on, let do more in charges & punishments, I cry everytime I have to sign a petition because these are innocent animals & haven’t done anything to deserve this shit!!

  14. Maria Lavorato says:

Richard Swangler needs to be held accountable addiction or not. He is a danger to animals and must be banned from having them. HE SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD A PET TO BEGIN WITH, KNOWING FULL WELL HIS INCLINATION TO DRUG!!!!!!! Justice system must send a clear message that animals cannot be subjected to cruelty without equal punishment by law.

This little cat has suffered greatly. The brave little thing tried to defend itself. Please find him/her a happy forever home that is safe from addictions and all cruelty. PLEASE!!!

    • Joyce O'Malley says:

This man should be prosecuted fined out in jail – no contact with animals for life!! This man is a violent offender and should be locked up away from the public!!

  15. Strangle Swangler!!

  16. Instigation of the death penalty is required re all animal abusers.

  17. Lisabella F daRoccha says:

Can Vincent Verse or ANYONE PLEASE TELL ME WHERE THIS SWEET LITTLE GIRL IS LOCATED IN LANCASTER?!? I WOULD LOVE TO BRING HER TO HER FOREVER HOME HERE WITH ME IN PA…

  18. Urszula Lund says:

No animal deserves to be a victim of DEHUMANIZED, DESENSITIZED and MENTALLY-DERANGED SADISTIC PSYCHOPATHS!!
NO animal-abuser should be allowed to get away with such a horrific crime!! Tormenting, neglecting and killing animals has a brutalizing effect on our society and mankind as a whole.
This pathological monster must be severely punished. He must also be forbidden from coming near, owning or working with animals in future.
SET a PRECEDENT, and punish to the full extent of the law!
This will not be tolerated in a civilized society.
