Protect Our Health From Toxic Air Pollution

Target: Secretary Shawn M. Garvin, Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC)

Goal: Don’t allow polluters to harm air quality and human health.

The quality of the air people breathe in Delaware’s industrial zones is a growing concern. Industrial emissions have continued to rise, contributing to air pollution that affects the health and well-being of the communities. Airborne toxins from manufacturing processes and industrial operations have been linked to a range of serious health issues, including respiratory problems, heart disease, and cancer.

Delaware’s residents, particularly those living in close proximity to industrial sites, deserve cleaner air for themselves and future generations. The deteriorating air quality poses a grave threat to public health, especially to vulnerable populations, such as children and the elderly. The unchecked release of pollutants into the atmosphere not only endangers human health but also harms the environment and wildlife.

Sign the petition below to demand immediate action from the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC). It is crucial that DNREC strengthens and rigorously enforces air quality regulations in industrial areas to reduce emissions and safeguard the health of the communities.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Secretary Garvin,

We, the undersigned, write to express deep concern about the deteriorating air quality in Delaware’s industrial zones. The rising levels of industrial emissions are placing the communities at risk, endangering public health, and degrading the environment.

Air pollution from industrial sources has far-reaching consequences. It contributes to respiratory ailments, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer among the residents, particularly those residing near industrial facilities. Children and elderly citizens are especially vulnerable to these health hazards. Furthermore, these emissions harm the ecosystems and wildlife, disrupting the delicate balance of the natural world.

We implore you to take immediate and decisive action to address this critical issue. Strengthen and rigorously enforce air quality regulations in Delaware’s industrial areas, ensuring that emissions are significantly reduced and controlled. By doing so, you will not only protect the health and well-being of Delawareans, but also safeguard the environment and wildlife that make the state unique.

Time is of the essence, and we cannot afford to delay. We urge you to prioritize the health and future of the communities by taking swift action to achieve cleaner air in Delaware’s industrial zones.

Sincerely,
