Protect Ancient Giant Sequoia Groves From Humans

Target: Gavin Newsom, Governor of California

Goal: Enact legislation to safeguard ancient giant sequoia groves from logging and development.

Ancient giant sequoia groves, some of Earth’s oldest and most majestic living beings, face imminent peril. These towering giants have borne witness to centuries of history, yet they now confront an unprecedented threat to their existence. Despite their status as national treasures, the relentless specter of logging and development casts a dark shadow over their future.

The ancient giant sequoias, scientifically known as Sequoiadendron giganteum, stand as silent sentinels in California’s forests. These colossal trees, some over 3,000 years old, harbor unparalleled ecological, historical, and cultural significance. They serve as vital ecosystems for countless species, contribute to carbon sequestration, and inspire generations with their awe-inspiring grandeur.

However, the relentless pursuit of commercial interests threatens these natural wonders. Logging companies and developers encroach upon these sacred groves, threatening to fell these giants for short-term gains. The repercussions of such actions are irreversible and would deprive future generations of the opportunity to marvel at these ancient wonders of nature.

Sign the petition below to demand that the California State Legislature and Governor take immediate and decisive action to enact legislation protecting ancient giant sequoia groves from logging and development, ensuring that these irreplaceable natural treasures endure for generations to come.

PETITION LETTER:

Esteemed Governor Gavin Newsom,

The ancient giant sequoia groves of California stand as a testament to the enduring grandeur of the natural world. These living giants, some older than recorded history, grace the landscapes with their awe-inspiring presence and offer vital contributions to the ecosystems and climate.

Yet, their future teeters on the brink of destruction as logging and development encroach upon these sacred groves. We implore you to heed the urgent call to action. Please enact comprehensive legislation to protect these ancient giants from the rapacious ambitions of short-term interests.

Let the legacy we leave to our children and their children be one of reverence for the timeless beauty of nature, not one of regret for heedless destruction. Preserve the ancient giant sequoia groves for the generations to come, so they too can bear witness to these living monuments to Earth’s enduring splendor.

Sincerely,

Failing to protect ancient giant sequoia groves from logging is an EXTREME ENVIRONMENTAL CRIME!

  2. I agree with Urszula! Old Growth Forests and giant Sequoias should not be logged. We need those old growth forests and trees either standing of felled due to replenishing the forest, provide shelter for wildlife, food for wildlife, enrichment of the soil in the forests, and numerous other reasons to safeguard these forests from the lumber industry. I would like to see some ownership effect of government and the lumber industry. The government should” rent” land to industry, they need to seed the land, cut trees grown on that land for their industry, then move on to another rented acreage for cutting the following year. We keep the land, industry cuts the trees, we replant and follow the cycle round and round, thus all have toilet paper!

These giant Sequoias HAVE to be PROTECTED. It is the usual old story, GREED OF HUMAN KIND.

why are humans so much inclined to destroy everything?

STOP CUTTING DOWN SEQUOIA TREES IMMEDIATELY!!!!
