Stop Crimes Based on Racial Bias and Deeply Rooted Prejudices

Target: Mr. Siddaramaiah, Chief Minister of Karnataka, India

Goal: Implement stricter regulations to prevent hate crimes.

The brutal killing of a 19-year-old girl, Ramya, allegedly by her own father, over her romantic relationship with a man from a different community, is a grim reflection of the dangers posed by hate-fueled actions. The disturbing incident has unfolded in the Kolar district of Karnataka, India, revealing a reported hate crime that demands the immediate attention of authorities.

The victim’s father, Venkatesh Gowda, reportedly took her life by strangulation, driven by his disapproval of her relationship with a young man from the ST Nayak community. Despite efforts to dissuade her from pursuing the relationship, the victim’s determination persisted. This heartbreaking incident underscores the need to address the deeply rooted prejudices and biases that can escalate into such heinous acts.

The perpetrators allegedly further compounded the crime by hastily burying Ramya’s body in secret, highlighting the lengths to which they seemingly went to conceal their actions. The alleged involvement of family members and relatives in the cover-up further exemplifies the severity of the issue. Demand action now.
