Save Old-Growth Forests From Logging and Mining

Target: Mr. Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Environment and Climate Change in Canada

Goal: Protect old-growth forests from logging and mining to save the ecosystem and biodiversity.

Old-growth forests are ecologically unique and provide essential ecosystem services such as carbon sequestration, water regulation, and habitat for numerous plant and animal species. Unfortunately, these forests are threatened by logging, mining, and other human activities that destroy their delicate balance and jeopardize their critical role in the environment.

Old-growth forests are vital in maintaining biodiversity, as they contain a wide range of species, including those that are rare or endangered. These forests also provide important ecological services that benefit society as a whole, such as the absorption of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, which helps to mitigate climate change, and the regulation of water flow, which helps to prevent floods and droughts.

The benefits of old-growth forests are undeniable. They are not only essential to maintaining biodiversity but also play a crucial role in mitigating climate change and providing numerous ecosystem services that are critical to the survival of humanity. Protecting old-growth forests is crucial in building a sustainable and resilient future for both humans and wildlife.

We have a duty to protect the environment and ensure the sustainability of our planet. Therefore, we call upon Mr. Guilbeault to take immediate action to protect old-growth forests and prevent their destruction.

We urge the Minister to work with stakeholders, including indigenous communities, to develop policies and programs that ensure the long-term conservation of old-growth forests. This will help to maintain biodiversity, mitigate climate change, and provide essential ecosystem services that benefit all.

Through the protection of old-growth forests, we can help to ensure the survival of numerous plant and animal species, mitigate climate change, and build a sustainable and resilient future for generations to come. Demand immediate action.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Guilbeault,

We, the undersigned, are writing to urge you to take immediate action to protect old-growth forests in Canada.

Old-growth forests are ecologically unique and provide essential ecosystem services such as carbon sequestration, water regulation, and habitat for numerous plant and animal species. However, these forests are under threat from logging, mining, and other human activities that destroy their delicate balance and jeopardize their critical role in the environment.

We implore you to collaborate with key stakeholders, particularly indigenous communities, to establish robust policies and initiatives that guarantee the perpetual preservation of old-growth forests. Such actions will sustain biodiversity, assuage the effects of climate change, and furnish indispensable ecosystem services that accrue to the benefit of all.

We urge you to take swift and decisive action to protect old-growth forests and prevent their destruction. By doing so, we can help to ensure the survival of numerous plant and animal species, mitigate climate change, and build a sustainable and resilient future for generations to come.

Sincerely,

NOT SAVING old-growth forests from logging and mining is an EXTREME ENVIRONMENTAL CRIME.

  2. Canada and other countries as well are all doing a miserable job of helping us avoid more misery from climate change. Old Growth Forests are extremely important with climate change and beyond. Those in charge need to open their eyes and look at the harm being done. Why? Money! Industry doesn’t care and corporations don’t care, but people do care. We care about the health of the planet, the children born today who will live through many tomorrows. We car about the soil, water, air, wildlife, animals, oceans … in other words we give a damn, you should too

  3. This also applies very strongly to Australia, particularly in Tasmania where ancient trees are still logged. Stop stealing the homes of wildlife and our future!

  4. Save them!

Businesses are always pushing to destroy natural habitats. I support this petition.

  6. John Richards says:

We humans complain of “invasive” and “destructive “ species. But the human species is the most invasive and destructive species of all – by a long shot. Yet the survival of the human species- and all life on Earth, depends on our ability to curb this instinctual destructiveness.

We can but hope and pray.

    And Take Action

  7. Maria Lavorato says:

Totally agree that protecting old-growth forests and preventing their destruction is paramount for all animals and for humans.
