Stop Exposing Rabbits and Other Animals to Convulsion-Inducing Tests

Target: Gavin Newsom, Governor of California

Goal: Prohibit cruel and unnecessary toxicity tests on all animals, not just ones we deem worthy.

California Governor Gavin Newsom recently signed a series of legislation that will instate important protections for animals throughout the state. Included among this legislation is the Prohibiting Extraneous Testing Act (PET), which is the first of its kind to prohibit toxicity testing on dogs and cats. These tests—which involve exposing animals to pesticides, chemical substances, anesthetics, and other products—are extremely unnecessary and do not yield results that help advance our understanding of toxicity effects on humans, as is acknowledged by the PET Act.

While this legislation is a win for dogs and cats across the state of California, the likely ramifications will be the increased suffering of other animals used as substitutions to dog and cat subjects. No animals—not rats, rabbits, mice, birds, fish or others—should be forced to endure these cruel experiments. Animals of all kinds suffer equally from prolonged exposure to toxic elements, and face serious health complications including vomiting, diarrhea, convulsions, and death, as a result.

Sign this petition to demand the PET Act be extended to all animals. We have no right to prioritize the wellbeing of certain animals over others.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Governor Newsom,

While we appreciate the massive strides California is taking towards improving conditions for the nation’s animals, we are upset by the clear hierarchy that seems to dominate much of your legislation. For example, in enacting the Prohibiting Extraneous Testing Act, you will save thousands of dogs and cats from torturous toxicity experiments while subjecting thousands of others–including rats, rabbits, mice, fish, birds, and frogs–to severe psychological and physical torment. All animals suffer the same, and prioritizing the suffering of dogs and cats over that of all other animals is unfair.

We are asking you, Mr. Newsom, to extend the PET Act to encompass all animals and ban the unnecessary, unfruitful, and unethical practice of extraneous testing on living beings.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]

THIS IS BARBARIC AND MUST BE STOPPED.THERE IS NO NEED FOR WORTHLESS EXPERIMENTS. WE’RE LIVING IN THE 21ST CENTURY. THERE ARE ALTERNATIVE METHODS. PLEASE STOP THESE OUTDATED ACTS OF ANIMAL ABUSE AND CRUELTY. USE PEOPLE ON DEATH ROW, JUST A THOUGHT

STOP ALL ANIMAL EXPERIMENTS WITH TORTURING AND NON TORTURINH CHEMICALS IMMEDIATELY!!!!! BAN ALL ANIMAL EXPERIMENTS IMMEDIATELY!!! These STUPID, CRUEL, and ABUSIVE IDIOTS should have these CRUEL& ABUSIVE EXPERIMENTS with or without DANGEROUS CHEMICALS & NOT INNOCENT ANIMALS EVER AGAIN IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!

  7. Urszula Lund says:

    STOP ANIMAL BESTIALITY!!!!!

  8. Stop all animal exploitation, not just vivisection, no animal volunteers to violently die. All animals exploited for food, for example, experience the same unwilling atrocities, body violations, and violent death, just because humans (want to) believe that killing animals for food is “ok” doesn’t make it “ok”, that’s just people defining the suffering of others in manners that makes their suffering more acceptable to the ones forcing the suffering on them.

Why is testing so bad and not consuming? To the VICTIM, the excuse doesn’t validate THEIR suffering and death, I keep seeing how testing is “cruel” and should therefore not be permitted.

Which means that killing is “cruel”, even MORE cruel.

    Vegan is the only humane.

THOSE DIABOLIC MACABROUS SELF-CALLED SCIENTISTS ARE NOTHING BUT SOME DEGENERATE SADISTICS WHO ENJOY TORTURING DEFENSELESS BEINGS, FOR THEIR OWN SELF-SATISFACTION …
i STILL DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW A CIVILIZED NATION LIKE THE USA ALLOWS THOSE EXPERIMENTS THAT ARE NOTHING BUT THE WORK OF EVIL HUMANS

    • I agree with you 100% — but I also want to point out the existence of a PET Act, which should apply to all animals, and that this nation should ban all useless experiments and animal cruelty to cover all kinds of animals, which should also include the way the ones which are slaughtered to be shipped to markets.

    STOP ANIMAL BESTIALITY!!!

  11. Milie Yamini says:

The only way to ‘stop the animal bestiality’ is by asking God to have mercy on this world now ruled by Satan.

  12. Michelle Taylor says:

All scumbags involved in this severe abuse of animals most definitely require extermination. A slow and agonizing death for each of these mentally deranged scumbags is essential!

  13. Agree all comments do the tests on yourselves or animal cruelty people bunch of bastards you dont give a fuck about animals and this needs to change now. Whats wrong with this world all cruel cunts . Stop this horrific cruelty. Animals dont deserve this got the rights as like people . People are the ones we need to test on not innocent animals . Anyone who allows this bastards do this need it done to them too.

  14. Naria Ximena Carbonell says:

Times change – in my time animals were slaughtered with dignity and respect and we ate meat, but they told us, for example, that we were going to eat a steak, or roast beef, or that it was a beef soup with vegetables, etc., we didn’t know where it came from, so we only knew what it was by names and by the way it was served to the table.
But those were the days …

  15. Robert Harnish says:

This isn’t science experiments and these aren’t scientists. These are animal abusers!

  16. Patricia Wicker says:

    STOP ALL ANIMAL EXPERIMENTS NOW!!!!!!!!!

  17. Shirley Lemieux says:

It does seem strange that something so important as the PET Act would only include dogs and cats but no others. As if to suggest that torturing other animals like rabbits, birds, mice, etc, is acceptable practice. I agree that the PET Act be extended to all animals. Every animal has the right to live without being subjected to poisonous experiments, torture, suffering, and death. These animals can not speak for themselves and are innocent victims. They need someone with a voice to stand firm in their defense. Extending the Pet Act to all animals does seem like the right thing to do.

  18. Frances Leard says:

Why are these filthy labs still harming innocent animals with our taxpayer’s money? This insane cruelty must be stopped and shut them all down and experiment on yourselves for your crazy sick minds.

How many more petitions do we need to sign to fix this criminal abuse?

  19. At this part in time, these tests are no longer needed on animals. We have simulation models. Please stop torturing animals.
