Target: Clarence Thomas, U.S. Supreme Court Justice
Goal: Urge Justice Thomas to not participate in cases where potential conflict of interest exists.
The confirmation hearing for Judge Ketanje Brown Jackson is being eclipsed by yet another controversy involving the Supreme Court. Ginni Thomas, the wife of Justice Clarence Thomas, has been linked to high-level attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election. The politically active spouse has also faced questions about her potential involvement in the January 6 Capitol insurrection.
Thomas exchanged over two dozen emails with then-Chief-of-Staff Mark Meadows in the aftermath of the election. The woman repeatedly urged the former president’s team not to concede the election, parroted various conspiracy theories, and promised supposed election tamperers would “be living in barges off GITMO to face military tribunals.” While Thomas is entitled to her opinions, these incidents are especially troubling because of her marriage to Justice Thomas, and the Trump administration’s attempts to overturn the election at the Supreme Court.
The actions of his wife bring the objectivity of Justice Thomas into serious question. He has previously stated that his wife and himself “believe in the same things.” In a previous case relating to Congress’ calls for information about the events of January 6, this justice was the lone dissenter seeking to stop legislators access to White House records. Justice Thomas also dissented when the Supreme Court ultimately rebuffed the Trump administration’s election challenges.
Sign the petition below to urge Justice Thomas to affirm the court’s impartiality by at the minimum recusing himself from cases involving elections or the Capitol riot investigation.

Dear Justice Thomas,
You have cited your role as a defender of liberty. Within this role are the oaths you took to conduct your duties with a fair and impartial mind. In the absence of this objectivity, truth and justice can never prevail.
You must realize how your wife’s political activism and abuse of her access to high-level officials calls your oath into question. The Supreme Court cannot function as a balancer of justice if even the hint of corruption or partisan influence festers. Please help maintain the integrity of the nation’s highest court.
Recuse yourself from current and future election cases or cases involving January 6. And if you cannot honor your oaths, step down immediately.
