Success: Infrastructure to Receive Billion-Dollar Upgrade

Target: Joe Biden, President of the United States

Goal: Commend commitment to upgrade and invest in buildings, bridges, roads, and public works.

Numerous infrastructure promises and proposed investments have come and gone in Washington. Meanwhile, the nation’s roads, bridges, buildings, and utilities continue to deteriorate. Most of these pieces of infrastructure are decades old, and their declining state “earned” the U.S. a C- rating on recent infrastructure report cards. Americans have long voiced their support for needed changes, as evidenced in this ForceChange petition, this petition, and this petition Now, the first funds are being deployed in a one-trillion-dollar-plus investment in the United States’ infrastructure future.

The bipartisan bill recently signed into law by President Biden includes hundreds of billions of dollars for repairing badly aging roads and bridges, which pose a significant safety risk for all Americans. The electric power grid will also see big investment, as will water utilities. In fact, some of the initial cash investments have already gone to storm-battered Louisiana for clean drinking water projects. In addition, American consumers can expect much greater access to broadband, especially in rural areas that often feel left behind. And signaling a commitment to clean energy, the bill also sets aside billions for electric vehicle investment, environmental clean-up projects, and more transportation-friendly alternatives for cyclists and pedestrians.

Sign the petition below to support this long-postponed and desperately needed effort.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear President Biden,

The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act is an important step forward for the U.S. people on many fronts. With this commitment, aging roads, bridges, and buildings will benefit from improvements while the country builds a modernized framework for a future emphasizing tools like broadband and clean energy. And also of importance, this success demonstrates that leaders can table differences and unite for a common good.

Thank you for captaining this massive package and ensuring its benefits reach the country at last.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
