Success: Cease-Fire Signed in Casualty-Heavy Border Conflict

Target: Vagharshak Harutyunyan, Senior Adviser to Prime Minister of Armenia

Goal: Hail agreement to cease deadly conflict that killed and displaced thousands.

The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict that embroiled Armenia and Azerbaijan threatened fragile stability in the Middle East. The bloody dispute has also taken a crushing humanitarian toll, as brought to attention in this ForceChange petition. However, prolonged calls for peace may have finally paid off with a historic trilateral cease-fire agreement.

Nagorno-Karabakh has remained a simmering source of conflict between the two countries for over two decades. These tensions came to a dangerous boiling point when violent clashes commenced in late September 2019. Heavy artillery and missiles soon made the dispute even more deadly. Deaths are estimated to be in the thousands, many of whom are likely displaced civilians. The new deal brokered by Russia to end the death and destruction offers this embattled region essential hope.

Sign the petition below to thank leaders for agreeing to lay down arms and instead pick up a pen that can bring peace at last.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Mr. Harutyunyan,

Throughout the past few months, countless civilians have stepped up to volunteer and help their fellow citizens during a conflict that has cost them and the two countries they call home so much. Now the leaders of the nations have agreed to put the general welfare of these people first. The hopeful end of the Nagorno-Karabakh dispute will usher in a new, better era that may finally be characterized by peace and stability.

Thank you for your efforts and role in closing this tragic chapter.

Sincerely,
