Prevent Civilian Deaths in Border Conflict

Target: Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of Armenia

Goal: Demand evacuation and protection for innocent civilians in combat zones.

Civilians are alleged to have been injured and killed in recent outbreaks of violence between Armenia and Azerbaijan, with schools and residences among the sites thought to be targeted by artillery and mortars. Nearly 50 civilian deaths and injuries have been reported in this latest incident in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, a long-standing disagreement over the status of a region between the two countries.

It’s currently unclear which country is responsible for attacking first, but while world leaders urge a peaceful resolution to the fighting, Armenia should do everything in its power to remove innocents from combat zones. Sign the petition below to demand that this be done immediately.

Dear Prime Minister Pashinyan,

There is no easy solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, which has simmered for over 30 years and has roots in the early 20th century. During all stages of this conflict, civilians have been subject to serious injury and death from weapons fire, infrastructural damage, and disrupted health services.

In recent fighting, innocents young and old have been maimed or killed. These people deserve the protection of the state while fighting rages, and the most effective solution is to remove them to safer areas away from combat operations. To prevent further needless harm, I demand that you deploy police and medical personnel to assist civilians and to escort them away from dangerous areas immediately.
