Success: Restrictive Anti-Abortion Law Struck Down

Goal: Applaud Pro-Choice America for working to protect women’s right to a safe abortion.

A restrictive anti-abortion law in Louisiana was recently struck down by a Supreme Court ruling. The law would have required doctors performing abortions to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals, which would have greatly diminished women’s access to a safe abortion. This restrictive law would have the left the entire state of Louisiana with just one abortion clinic, placing an undue burden on the constitutional right to an abortion. In addition, the law does nothing to protect women’s health, though its main argument is to protect women.
