Success: Rapid Biodiversity Loss to Be Officially Addressed

Target: Ivonne Higuero, Secretary General of Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora

Goal: Praise and support world organization for tackling the issue of fading biodiversity across the planet.

For years, problems such as pollution, construction, agriculture, and lax hunting laws have been killing wildlife species left and right. This has led to a lack of biodiversity in many countries. However, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species, also known as Cites, is meeting to tackle the world’s problem of fading biodiversity head-on.

While this meeting is only the first step, it is one of the most important. Environmentalists and conservationists have been attempting to draw as much attention as possible to this issue, with petitions such as this one being circulated. The agriculture, construction, fuel, and hunting industries are large and powerful. Despite the attempts of lawmakers, these industries have fought for their own stake in things, further halting the protection of wildlife across the globe.

This is a major step towards reviving biodiversity across the planet. Sign this petition to thank Cites for this meeting and to give them your support in pushing forward with their plans.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Secretary General Higuero,

Thank you for calling a meeting of Cites to finally tackle the problem of biodiversity loss. For years, the human world has been threatening the lives and safety of many species. They lose their habitats to industry, sicken and die from ingesting chemicals, or are hunted as trophies.

This may only be the first step towards full biodiversity protection, but it is one of the most important. After years of hunters, farmers, gas companies, and construction lobbying for their own privileges at the expense of wildlife, it is good to know that you will be bringing the needs of animals to the forefront. Biodiversity is vital to this planet’s survival. Thank you for addressing the need for it.

Sincerely,

  1. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Finally, a meeting of CITES to try and preserve the biodiversity of this beautiful world we call Earth. Everybody needs to learn about biodiversity and how we humans, and the Earth itself, cannot survive without it. Our planet is a fine tuned living machine in which everything is connected. Losing a species causes repercussions that can’t be reversed. A mosquito feeds various other insects and birds and they in turn feed other creatures, and on it goes… Losing one affects others. Everyone needs the knowledge and understanding of species survival and how each person can do their part in keeping the world whole.
