Veterinary specialists say they documented severe physical trauma and respiratory distress among the surviving animals, while four protected tortoises succumbed to suffocation during transit. Three suspects were taken into custody, but prosecutors continue preparing a multi-jurisdictional case involving alleged wildlife trafficking, active cruelty, and customs violations.
