Target: Gyanendra Pratap Singh, Director General of Police, Assam Police, Guwahati, India
Goal: Identify and prosecute any individuals impersonating animal workers to capture and remove community dogs.
A deeply troubling animal welfare investigation intensified after witnesses described a group of unidentified individuals aggressively capturing community dogs from a neighborhood in Guwahati, Assam. According to eyewitness accounts, the group arrived in a blue and yellow netted van while wearing yellow shirts featuring paw-print logos intended to imitate legitimate municipal animal control workers.
Residents observed the individuals using large blue nets to trap well-known community dogs that local caregivers described as calm and nonaggressive. Witnesses further said that nearby residents attempted to intervene before the group fled the area with the captured animals inside the vehicle.
Animal welfare advocates fear the dogs may have been taken for possible illegal meat trade activity or unsafe relocation practices. Police have begun reviewing local surveillance footage in an effort to identify the vehicle registration number and determine the whereabouts of the missing animals. Because the suspects remain unidentified, no arrests or prosecutions have occurred.
Animal welfare advocates argue that unauthorized animal capture operations may place community dogs at risk of abuse, abandonment, illegal trafficking, and violent death while also undermining legitimate municipal welfare efforts. Demand the perpetrators be found and brought to justice.
PETITION LETTER:
Dear DGP Singh,
Authorities have reported unidentified individuals impersonating municipal animal workers while aggressively capturing community dogs using large nets.
Witnesses observed frightened dogs forced into a transport van before the suspects fled the neighborhood. If proven, the conduct would represent unlawful capture and potential cruelty involving vulnerable community animals.
We urge your office to devote all available investigative resources toward identifying and prosecuting any individuals responsible for this alleged illegal capture operation.
Sincerely,
[Your Name Here]
