Dog Allegedly Left to Die Slowly After Swallowing Foreign Object: Demand Justice

Target: Deanna Reisman, Acting District Attorney, Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit, Walker County, Georgia

Goal: Prosecute to the fullest extent of the law those allegedly responsible for allowing a dog to suffer a slow death from starvation after swallowing a cloth object and receiving no veterinary care.

A dog allegedly endured one of the most agonizing deaths imaginable while those responsible reportedly stood by and did nothing. According to investigators, a necropsy revealed that the animal had swallowed a cloth-like material that became balled up with bones in its stomach, blocking digestion entirely and condemning the dog to a prolonged, slow death from starvation. Despite reportedly being fully aware of the dog’s worsening condition — including visible weight loss, vomiting, and refusal to eat — those in charge of the animal’s care allegedly made a conscious decision not to seek any veterinary help.

Officers were alerted after a social worker reportedly noticed the dog had stopped barking during her visits to the home. When animal control arrived and inquired about the animal, the dog’s remains were allegedly found covered by a sheet in the backyard. A necropsy reportedly determined the dog had been dead for three to five days before its body was discovered. According to the animal control director, both individuals were fully aware of the dog’s declining health and chose not to intervene. One of the accused reportedly told officers that someone from Facebook was supposed to come and remove the remains.

Animals cannot speak for themselves, and when those entrusted with their care allegedly abandon them to die in agony, the justice system must act decisively. Allowing individuals who allegedly watch an animal suffer and die without seeking help to face inadequate consequences sends the wrong message. Sign below to demand District Attorney Reisman pursues the maximum available penalties against those charged in connection with this dog’s alleged suffering and death.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Acting District Attorney Reisman,

We are writing to urge your office to pursue the strongest possible charges against the individuals accused in connection with the alleged slow and agonizing death of a dog in Rossville, Georgia. According to reports, a necropsy confirmed that the animal had swallowed a cloth-like material that lodged in its digestive system, causing it to die slowly from starvation while both accused individuals were aware of its suffering and chose not to seek veterinary care.

The facts of this case, as reported, are deeply disturbing. The animal was allegedly left to deteriorate — losing weight, vomiting, and refusing to eat — while those responsible reportedly made excuses rather than seeking help. When officers arrived, the remains of the dog were reportedly hidden beneath a sheet in the backyard, apparently dead for days. This is not a case of ignorance, according to the animal control director, both individuals knew and did nothing.

We respectfully demand that your office pursue the maximum penalties available under Georgia law for those charged in this case, and that you send a clear message that allowing an animal to allegedly suffer and die without care will not be tolerated in your jurisdiction. Justice for this dog demands nothing less.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
