Puppy and Cats Allegedly Beaten to Death and Maimed With Wooden Stick Deserve Justice

Target: Glenn Funk, District Attorney General, Nashville, Tennessee

Goal: Prosecute a man who allegedly beat a puppy to death with a wooden stick and allegedly broke both back legs of a cat to the fullest extent of the law.

A Tennessee community was shocked after a man allegedly beat a puppy to death with a wooden stick in his own backyard — then allegedly turned the same stick on a cat, breaking both of its back legs. According to an arrest affidavit, a witness watched in horror as the man struck the puppy repeatedly until it was dead. The alleged violence did not stop there — the suspect reportedly killed another cat the day before, with officers led to the deceased animal lying in the woods near the house.

According to the affidavit, the suspect used a wooden stick to beat the puppy to death before turning on a cat and breaking both of its back legs. Animal control arrived to tend to the injured cat but found the injuries so severe that the animal had to be put down. When asked why he allegedly attacked the animals, the suspect apparently claimed he had been attacked by a pit bull — but officers found no such dog, and no wounds on his person to support the claim.

These animals suffered unimaginable pain at the hands of someone who allegedly carried out a sustained, brutal attack across multiple days. A puppy is dead, two cats are gone, and the suspect seemed to have no credible explanation for his reported actions. Sign below to demand the fullest penalties available under Tennessee law to ensure justice for these voiceless victims and to send a clear message that cruelty will not go unpunished.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear DA Funk,

We are writing to urge your office to prosecute the following case to the fullest extent of the law. A witness allegedly watched a man beat a puppy repeatedly with a wooden stick until it was dead, then allegedly use the same stick to break both back legs of a cat on the property. Officers were additionally led to a second deceased cat allegedly killed by the same suspect the day before, found lying in the woods near the home.

The injured cat’s wounds were so severe that animal control determined it had to be put down upon arrival. The suspect claimed to have been attacked by a pit bull, but officers found no such animal and no wounds on his person. This alleged pattern of sustained, deliberate cruelty across multiple days and multiple animals demands the most serious prosecutorial response available.

We urge your office to pursue the maximum penalties on all three counts of aggravated animal cruelty. These animals endured tremendous suffering, and justice demands a sentence that reflects the full severity of what allegedly took place on that property.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
