Cats Reportedly Stabbed and Hurled From 34th Floor Deserve Justice

Target: Lucien Wong, Attorney-General of Singapore

Goal: Secure the toughest available prison terms and a lifetime animal-ownership ban for the individual allegedly responsible for repeated cat torture and killings.

A series of chilling incidents have left Singapore reeling: a 26-year-old man is accused of stabbing multiple community cats, slamming one against a wall, and dropping another from a 34th-floor corridor. One cat, known as Field Field, was allegedly kicked inside a lift, stamped on, and then thrown to its death moments later. In the most recent charge, the same suspect purportedly dragged a light-brown cat by its tail before smashing the animal against a wall three times, causing brutal bleeding from the mouth and nose.

Court documents indicate that at least six cats suffered horrific injuries within months. Wounds described include a 5 cm stab gash, repeated assaults across several housing blocks, and fatal head trauma. Each offense is charged under the Animals and Birds Act, yet current penalties cap at 18 months’ imprisonment and a S$15,000 fine per count—punishments that many animal advocates deem insufficient given the severity of the alleged cruelty.

A forceful prosecutorial stance is essential to deter copycat violence and affirm Singapore’s zero-tolerance position on animal abuse. Maximizing sentences, pursuing consecutive jail terms, and requesting long-term bans on pet ownership would send a clear message: deliberate, sadistic harm to animals will meet the full weight of the law.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Attorney-General Wong,

Recent court filings describe extreme cruelty inflicted on six community cats. The accused reportedly stabbed several felines, dragged one by the tail, smashed it against a wall, and hurled another from a 34th-storey corridor, causing a horrific death. Such repeated, purposeful violence undermines public safety and shocks the conscience of a nation that prides itself on compassion.

Singapore’s statutes allow up to 18 months in custody and a S$15,000 fine per charge, yet the gravity and calculated nature of these acts warrant the highest penalties available. Consecutive sentences, coupled with a permanent prohibition on animal ownership, would reflect the profound suffering endured by these cats and reinforce society’s denunciation of intentional torture.

We respectfully urge the Attorney-General’s Chambers to pursue maximum penalties on every count and to request lifetime animal-ownership restrictions in this case. A decisive outcome will honor the lives lost, deter future cruelty, and uphold Singapore’s commitment to protect its most vulnerable creatures.

Sincerely,
