Put Prime Minister Netanyahu’s Alleged Corruption on Trial

Target: Yariv Levin, Minister of Justice for Israel

Goal: Advocate for continuation of prime minister’s corruption trial.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has once again succeeded in postponing a consequential trail that could derail his leadership. After no less than three corruption scandals beginning in 2020, Netanyahu has been accused of fraud, bribe acceptance, and breach of trust. The trial was delayed multiple times. Most recently, the prime minister was scheduled to give crucial testimony in the proceedings. But this testimony was also delayed, despite judges previously rejecting Netanyahu’s grounds for postponement.

In the interim of these legal woes, the prime minister has spear-headed high-profile military campaigns – including two wars. Netanyahu has also stirred controversy by attempting to overpower his country’s judiciary and by failing to secure the release of dozens of Israeli hostages. Critics have accused the prime minister of using these volatile issues as distractions to hold onto power and avoid accountability. In political lingo, such diversionary tactics – especially with military force – are called “wagging the dog.”

As Netanyahu’s approval rating plummets in Israel and calls for early elections grow, the people deserve a decisive answer on the charges against their prime minister. Sign the petition below to demand leaders grant the people this essential opportunity.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Minister Levin,

Up to 70 percent of Israelis have lost confidence in Prime Minister Netanyahu’s leadership. Polls indicate that if elections were currently held, the outcome would not end well for the prime minister. Trust and confidence cannot be restored if the people are not allowed to assess allegations of their leader’s corruption. Continuous postponements of an important trial benefit no one but the prime minister.

The Israeli people need to know that their prime minister is not compromised and is not above the law. Moreover, they need faith that decisions with far-reaching ramifications for them and their neighbors are not being driven by self-interest rather than interest in the common good. Do everything in your power to ensure this trial finally has its day in court and the people finally have transparency and trust.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
