Invest in Clean Energy Roadmap to Protect Our Planet

Target: Jennifer Granholm, Secretary of U.S. Department of Energy

Goal: Speed up funding for 12,000 clean energy projects awaiting access to power grid.

Wind, solar, and battery power are key cornerstones in a future driven by clean energy. These sources must have access to America’s power grids through a process called interconnection. While demand for this access has skyrocketed by as much as 500 percent, a huge backlog of 12,000 projects still await interconnection access.

The nation’s Department of Energy recently released the Transmission Interconnection Roadmap. Workshops, expert meetings, and public input were sought and implemented. The department used these resources to create a plan of action for clearing the interconnection backlog and boosting clean energy goals. The multi-part plan aims to increase fast-track interconnection options, limit costs, strengthen standards, and improve the quality and the quantity of potential solutions.

Current investment and funding are key, especially given the imminent arrival of a new administration. Sign the petition below to demand the Department of Energy ramp up its efforts to put America on a path toward clean, eco-friendly energy.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Secretary Granholm,

The Transmission Interconnection Roadmap could become one of this Department of Energy’s most consequential and lasting legacies. But it needs urgent support now before future officials can dismantle and derail it. The Grid Innovation Program should deploy maximum funding investments in the coming weeks.

The 12,000-plus projects that await interconnection could provide an essential framework for clean energy going forward. Give them the opportunity to make a difference in this nation’s and this world’s environmental future.

Sincerely,
