Goal: Find person responsible for using innocent dog as “bait” for dog fighting.
A bloodied dog named Atlas was found wandering the streets. His face was gashed, bruised, and bleeding. His eyes were nearly swollen shut.
When rescuers arrived, Atlas was barely able to see and was experiencing blood loss and other internal injuries. Atlas was found wandering aimlessly in a parking lot in Pompano Beach.
Rescuers, from both South Florida Cats and Kittens and I Heart, assumed custody of Atlas and rushed him to a veterinary hospital where he received treatment for his extensive injuries.
According to representatives from I Heart, Atlas’ injuries are consistent with being used as a “bait dog” in a dog fighting ring. He does not appear to have been hit by a car.

maybe there are to many higher ranking others involved for the police to be bothered,unfortuantly but there were 2 sports people caught in one and nothing happened to them welcomed back into the arms of the sport
All dogs want is to be loved and they are loyal to you till the day they die. It breaks your heart at the extent of abuse and suffering this poor dog has gone through. This person needs jail time a heavy fine and be registered as an animal abuser and never be allowed to own dogs again.
The judges do not do anyone favours when they let these abusers off. Hopefully the judge will give a harsh sentence when they are caught. And the law changed to guardian instead of owner.
Police need to stop these weak cowards from using dogs for their very weak lives. VERY WEAK.. Find them and Jail them or give them to the dogs for karma.

Unfortunately, if the dog fighting syndicates are anything like the ones here in RSA… you’ll find the cops, vets, in fact, any supporting institution associated with dog fighting WILL be involved… somehow… esp paybacks from the winnings 🙁 So unless you go underground yourself, you’ll never knows ‘in’ and who’s not. Hey, I wouldn’t be surprised if the local court judge isn’t involved too…. the evilness of dog fighting runs deep and is widespread 🙁

Crimes committed against animals are more and more grotesque because the punishment for animal-abuse is not harsh enough and in many cases non-existent. A slap on the wrist is the mockery of animal victims. This dehumanized and desensitized sadistic psychopath must be found and harshly punished. He must also be forbidden from owning animals ever again!
