Success: City Bans Herbicide That Kills People and Environment

Target: Jonathan Wilkinson, Minister of environment and climate change Canada.

Goal: Praise the city of Laval, Quebec for banning Roundup.

The city of Laval in Quebec has made a huge step towards a healthier future by banning glyphosate in urban areas. Thanks to petitions such as this one, the new law will eliminate the use of the cancer-causing herbicide Roundup from being sprayed in the city.

Roundup is used regularly across the country and exposes people, especially children, to horrible health issues, such as diarrhea, vomiting, and death. The environment also suffers greatly from this horrific chemical which indiscriminately kills plants and animals and poisons water and soil.

Praise the mayor and council of the city of Laval for their groundbreaking regulations that will save lives and hopefully set a trajectory that will be followed by all of Canada.

Dear Honorable Wilkinson,

Your government had done a shameful job of allowing chemicals such as Roundup to poison people and the land.  Thankfully, the community of Laval, Que has taken initiative and banned glyphosate-containing herbicides from their city.

This city should be praised for its tireless efforts to protect the people and environment. I hope that their noble decision will be an inspiration for other Canadian municipalities to follow suit and that you will heed the public opinion and ban glyphosate in all of Canada.
