Scottish Power has plans to vastly improve wind and solar power across the country with an industrial-scale battery. According to news reports, this battery is half the size of a football field and would harness power from over 200 turbines, making wind just as powerful an energy source as coal or oil without the nasty side effects of pollution.
The United Kingdom overall has been a source of serious pollution problems for years due to their reliance on fossil fuels. Hundreds of people die from respiratory complications every year, particularly young children. Petitions such as this one have circulated, demanding Europe as a whole reject proposed alternative energy plans that would only worsen the problem, such as burning wood.
Environmental groups have been touting the benefits of wind energy for years, and Scotland is finally giving it the chance it deserves to be so. They have shown great devotion to providing cleaner energy, and will hopefully set an example for other countries. Sign this petition to thank Scottish Power for boosting wind energy.
