Dog Allegedly Slammed Into Elevator Wall and Dragged: Prosecute Now

Target: Nathan J. Hochman, District Attorney, Los Angeles County, California

Goal: Pursue serious penalties upon conviction for alleged attacks on three dogs, including swinging a dog into an elevator wall and dragging it afterward.

The alleged sequence is agonizing: a dog swung against an elevator wall, unable to walk afterward, then forcibly dragged. Prosecutors say video captured that incident among repeated attacks on two French bulldogs and a chihuahua.

Jaquan Slaughter faces eight felony animal cruelty counts and a misdemeanor abandonment charge. Prosecutors also allege that dogs were thrown onto concrete and carried in ways that restricted their airways. Authenticated recordings and veterinary evidence must establish what happened.

The dogs’ names are Champ, Hope, and Hollister. Each deserves attention beyond a charge count or a brief video clip. Demand a determined prosecution, meaningful penalties upon conviction, and lawful protective restrictions that address any demonstrated danger to animals.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear District Attorney Hochman,

Please pursue the animal cruelty allegations against Jaquan Slaughter with a clear account of the treatment and condition of each dog. The reported footage of a dog being swung against an elevator wall and dragged after appearing unable to walk requires careful presentation alongside medical findings. We ask that the court receive evidence of both the alleged acts and their established consequences.

Preserve original recordings and relevant communications, document their provenance, and connect the alleged incidents to veterinary assessments wherever possible. Investigate the accusations of throwing dogs onto concrete and restricting their breathing without extending those claims beyond the evidence. Ensure that the animals’ current care arrangements support their medical and behavioral needs while safeguarding relevant records. Their welfare must remain a priority throughout proceedings.

Where the charges are proved, request a substantial sentence that reflects the seriousness and repetition of established abuse, together with authorized restrictions on possessing or caring for animals. Evaluate any proposed resolution against the complete evidence of harm. We seek a fair prosecution that recognizes these dogs as individual living beings and a sentencing request that gives meaningful weight to any suffering the court finds was deliberately inflicted. Protect their future while pursuing accountability.

Sincerely,
