Horizon City police announced additional animal cruelty charges against two defendants already connected to the July 2 arson investigation. The new charges followed findings concerning the cat’s death. A juvenile was also arrested in the broader case, but police did not confirm an animal cruelty charge against that child. Each person’s alleged role must be established individually.
Prosecutors need to establish both the cause of the fire and the evidence supporting responsibility for the animal’s death. Demand diligent prosecution of supported cruelty charges and penalties that reflect proven harm, alongside the appropriate handling of the alleged arson.
