Goal: Do not deny Ukrainians defending their homeland life-saving warning systems.
When the president of the United States unilaterally declared an “energy ceasefire” had been agreed upon by Russia and the country it invaded, Ukraine, there was radio silence from both nations. Ukraine nevertheless honored the ceasefire, while Russia broke it with a devastating attack mere hours later. How did the U.S. president respond? He threatened the non-aggressor, Ukraine, pledging to cut off key intelligence if Ukrainians defended themselves with another Russian energy infrastructure strike. This development came around the same time the president struck a deal with Russia for a small portion of its diesel fuel, in violation of a law passed just weeks prior in honor of late Senator Lindsey Graham.
A short time following the threat, a series of deadly Russian attacks struck the heart of Ukraine’s capital. Ukraine also apparently lost important access to Elon Musk’s Starlink system during these strikes, leaving the country even more blind. Ukrainian leaders accused intelligence partners of withholding vital information about the incoming strikes. Despite the clear threats made previously, White House officials denied any involvement in the lethal security lapses, blaming well-timed “technical problems.” Multiple news reports – and Elon Musk himself – have pointed the finger back at the White House and the Pentagon, however. The president has since declared that Ukraine needs a new leader because its current president is more of a problem for him than dictator and war-monger Vladimir Putin.
This alarming accusation comes at the same time the United States’ Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, has threatened to sanction and cripple the global body developed in the aftermath of World War II to hold the planet’s most powerful to account. Standing with an invading country over its attempted conquest – all in the name of money and power – has never been a just, well-viewed, or American part of history. Most often, it serves as a damning indictment of those in charge…sometimes a literal indictment handed down by the global justice system you recently dismissed as “fake” – the very system that brought some measure of accountability to Nazi Germany. Americans stood with freedom and fought oppression and bloodlust imperialism during that turbulent era.
Now, America is at a crossroads. Will it continue as the ideal embodiment of justice and liberty? Or will it instead side with the very forces it has stood against? If U.S. leadership had any hand in denying crucial intelligence to Ukraine, the blood is on your hands. You must cleanse this stain and, more importantly, cleanse this nation’s soul. Give your full and public support to Ukraine, reunify key alliances, and stop threatening to dismantle global law and order. Honor the American way and every man and woman who fought and died for its preservation.
