Thirty Dogs Reportedly Found Emaciated Beside Dead Companion: Pursue Full Prosecution

Target: Amira D. Fox, State Attorney, Twentieth Judicial Circuit, Florida

Goal: Fully prosecute allegations that 30 dogs endured severe emaciation, dehydration, untreated injuries, and dangerous living conditions, and seek serious penalties if the charges are proven.

Thirty living dogs were removed from a residence where deputies reportedly documented extreme welfare concerns. The animals were allegedly suffering from severe emaciation, dehydration, and untreated physical injuries. Investigators also say they recovered the remains of one dead dog from the property, and that the home lacked running water, functioning air conditioning, and adequate ventilation.

Mary Paulis was arrested and faces 31 counts of aggravated animal cruelty, along with a separate charge involving neglect of a disabled adult. Authorities allege that Paulis was responsible for the dogs’ care and allowed them to remain in dangerous conditions. She has not been convicted, and those allegations must be established through evidence and due process.

Forensic veterinarians are evaluating the surviving animals and examining the deceased dog’s remains. Prosecutors should carefully review necropsy results, veterinary records, photographs, property evidence, witness statements, and any documentation establishing who had responsibility for feeding, sheltering, and obtaining medical care for the animals. If the charges are proven, seek meaningful penalties proportionate to the suffering established in court.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear State Attorney Fox,

Thirty dogs were reportedly discovered suffering from severe emaciation, dehydration, and untreated injuries inside a residence without running water, functioning air conditioning, or adequate ventilation. Investigators also allegedly recovered the remains of one deceased dog.

Mary Paulis has been arrested on 31 counts of aggravated animal cruelty. Please ensure prosecutors thoroughly evaluate the forensic veterinary evidence, necropsy findings, property records, photographs, and witness testimony before determining the full scope of criminal responsibility.

If prosecutors prove the animal-cruelty charges beyond a reasonable doubt, pursue convictions and serious penalties reflecting the scale of the suffering established by the evidence. Thirty surviving dogs and one dead animal deserve a complete prosecution and meaningful legal accountability for every offense ultimately proven.

Sincerely,
