Twelve dogs and one domestic cat were taken into protective custody during a coordinated raid on a Bengaluru veterinary facility under investigation for suspected illegal breeding and unauthorized medical experimentation. Investigators say they encountered animals kept under severe confinement, while records raised questions about undocumented medical procedures. An unsterilized Cane Corso and a Siberian Husky were among the animals recovered from allegedly unhygienic conditions.
Animal welfare advocates allege that the suspected operation extended beyond the clinic. According to the rescue group’s initial report, dog catchers were paid approximately ₹500 for each street dog delivered to the facility. The group further alleges that some dogs were intentionally injured before arriving there. No individual has yet been proven responsible for these allegations.
Investigators are examining CCTV footage, medication records, and financial transaction sheets to establish the scale of the suspected operation and identify everyone involved. Police should trace payments and communications, determine who authorized any undocumented procedures, and identify anyone allegedly responsible for capturing or injuring animals. If the evidence establishes cruelty, unlawful experimentation, illegal breeding, or related offenses, prosecute every responsible participant.
