41 Cats Allegedly Starved in Apartment: Demand Justice

Target: Mohd Kamaruddin Md Din, Director General, Department of Veterinary Services Malaysia, Putrajaya, Malaysia

Goal: Pursue all lawful penalties if the evidence supports allegations that dozens of cats were reportedly confined inside an apartment and allegedly deprived of adequate food and water, resulting in multiple reported deaths.

Authorities opened a criminal animal welfare case after an investigation into conditions inside an apartment allegedly uncovered dozens of confined cats. According to court records and official statements, veterinary officers discovered forty-one cats inside the residence during the investigation.

The cats were allegedly confined for a prolonged period without sufficient food or drinking water. Authorities further reported that several cats had died before neighbors alerted animal welfare officials. Surviving animals were removed from the property and placed under veterinary supervision for emergency treatment and rehabilitation. The accused has pleaded not guilty to charges filed under Malaysia’s Animal Welfare Act 2015. Bail has been granted, the defendant’s passport has been surrendered to the court and the criminal proceedings remain ongoing. No court has determined criminal liability.

If the evidence ultimately establishes that companion animals were deprived of basic necessities and left to endure prolonged suffering, meaningful accountability would be appropriate. Companion animals depend entirely upon responsible human care for survival. Animal welfare laws exist to protect vulnerable animals from preventable neglect and their protections should be fully enforced whenever the evidence justifies prosecution.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Director General Mohd Kamaruddin,

Authorities reportedly discovered forty-one cats inside a residential apartment before initiating criminal proceedings under Malaysia’s animal welfare legislation. Investigators alleged that the animals may have gone without adequate food and water for an extended period and that several cats reportedly died before authorities intervened.

Please ensure that this case receives a complete and thorough review and that, if the evidence ultimately supports the allegations, every lawful penalty is pursued. If investigators establish that these animals endured preventable suffering through prolonged deprivation, appropriate accountability should follow under the law.

Sincerely,

[Your Name Here]
