Dog Allegedly Kicked and Choked: Demand Justice

Target: Don McMorris, Chief of Police, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada

Goal: Pursue all lawful penalties if evidence supports allegations that a dog was subjected to physical abuse inside a residential apartment.

Authorities began an animal cruelty investigation after responding to an emergency call concerning a disturbance inside a residential apartment complex. Officers entered a residential unit and initiated an investigation concerning the treatment of a domestic dog.

Investigators alleged that the dog may have been subjected to physical force inside the residence. Authorities subsequently arrested a resident and filed criminal charges alleging unnecessary pain to an animal. During a follow-up search, officers say they recovered firearms and raised concerns regarding licensing compliance. The dog was removed from the residence and placed under animal welfare supervision for veterinary assessment and continued care. The accused has been released pending court proceedings and no court has issued findings of liability.

If evidence ultimately establishes that a companion animal was subjected to intentional violence or unnecessary suffering, meaningful accountability would be warranted. Domestic animals rely entirely on human protection and animal welfare laws exist to prevent avoidable harm. Thorough investigation and appropriate enforcement remain essential.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Chief McMorris,

Authorities responded to allegations involving a dog inside a residential apartment and later initiated criminal proceedings after reviewing conditions at the scene. The animal was removed for veterinary care and protective placement.

Please ensure that this matter receives a full and careful review and that, if the evidence ultimately supports the allegations, all available legal remedies are pursued. If investigators determine that an animal was subjected to avoidable suffering, appropriate accountability should follow.

Sincerely,
