12-Week-Old Puppy Allegedly Thrown and Struck: Demand Accountability

Target: Larry Haskell, Prosecuting Attorney, Spokane County, Washington

Goal: Pursue all lawful penalties if evidence supports allegations that a young puppy was violently handled and injured inside a private residence.

Authorities opened an animal cruelty investigation after responding to an emergency call concerning a young dog inside a residence. According to investigative reports, an eyewitness contacted authorities and that an adult male physically assaulted a twelve-week-old puppy inside the home. Responding officers and animal protection personnel initiated an investigation.

The witness alleged that the puppy was thrown and repeatedly struck after the animal defecated indoors. Another resident stated they had not witnessed the conduct. Investigators arrested a suspect and filed criminal charges. Animal control officers removed the puppy for emergency veterinary examination to assess possible skeletal and internal injuries. No court has issued findings and no plea has been entered.

If evidence ultimately establishes that a defenseless young animal was subjected to intentional physical harm, meaningful accountability would be warranted. Companion animals depend entirely on human care and animal welfare laws exist to prevent avoidable suffering. Continued investigation and appropriate prosecution remain essential.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Prosecutor Haskell,

Authorities responded to allegations involving a young puppy and later initiated criminal proceedings after reviewing witness accounts and available evidence. The puppy was removed from the residence for medical evaluation and protection. Investigators stated that physical evidence may support the allegations.

Please ensure that this matter receives a full and careful review and that, if the evidence ultimately supports the allegations, all available legal remedies are pursued. If investigators determine that a vulnerable animal was injured through intentional conduct, appropriate accountability should follow.

Sincerely,
