Great Dane Apparently Wasted Away to 77 Pounds: Demand the Maximum Penalty

Target: Ryan Sayers, District Attorney of Clearfield County, Pennsylvania

Goal: Seek the maximum lawful penalties in reported case of a Great Dane weighing 77.6 pounds and two cats found emaciated and flea-infested.

Authorities seized a Great Dane named Stella who was reportedly so weak she could not stand and weighed just 77.6 pounds, with vertebrae, ribs, and pelvis visibly protruding. Two cats in the same residence were allegedly underweight, flea-infested, and covered in visible scabs. These disturbing details emerged after a welfare check and a search warrant were executed, according to the criminal complaint.

The case follows earlier warnings and an earlier neglect case involving different dogs, during which officials had directed the defendant to obtain veterinary care. Investigators now allege prolonged neglect, noting Stella’s minimal muscle mass and “bunny hopping” to move, while the cats were apparently suffering from untreated parasitism and poor body condition. The defendant has been charged with felony aggravated cruelty to animals causing serious bodily injury or death, as well as misdemeanor cruelty and neglect.

Protecting vulnerable animals requires robust enforcement. Alleged starvation, untreated illness, and repeat noncompliance demand strong prosecutorial action that both deters future cruelty and funds the victims’ recovery. This petition urges the District Attorney to pursue the maximum lawful penalties, a long-term prohibition on animal ownership, mandatory psychological evaluation and treatment, and restitution for veterinary and shelter costs.

PETITION LETTER:

District Attorney Sayers,

The public is deeply troubled by reports that a Great Dane named Stella was found unable to stand and weighing 77.6 pounds, with bones starkly visible, and that two cats in the same home were emaciated, flea-infested, and covered in scabs. These animals, according to official accounts, appeared to suffer from prolonged neglect and lack of basic veterinary care. This matter also follows prior warnings and an earlier neglect case, suggesting a troubling pattern.

We respectfully urge your office to seek the maximum lawful penalties on all counts, along with a long-term ban on animal ownership, mandated psychological evaluation and treatment, and full restitution to the SPCA and treating veterinarians. Firm, comprehensive accountability here could help prevent future suffering and reinforce that prolonged neglect will not be tolerated.

Sincerely,

  1. Stop monsters like this they are getting away with very little punishment for the cruelty they inflict on this poor dog and 2 cats.

  2. What sort of judge let’s these people have more pets after the first conviction. What good are welfare checks when there is no follow up? If there had been any sort of concern for these animals they would never have been allowed to get this bad. Lock these people up and make sure they never have animals again

  3. When they were issued a warning, why in the hell wouldn’t you take the animals then? Why give theses asshole a 2nd chance to kill them? If theses people are college educated people & can’t tell theses animals needed help then get new people that know & care about animals!

    FUCKING BAD SCUM.
the animal torturers and animal killers are the epitome of EVIL.
WORSE THAN VILE OF THE EARTH BASTARDS!!
    my heart is bleeding
how many of these poor angels still have to suffer and die because of piles of rubbish like these “people”.

  5. Did the animals survive????????

  6. Maria Lavorato says:

They could have saved Stella and the two little cats from horrific suffering if they had rescued them after the prior inspection or at least inspected the residence frequently before so much time lapsed.

So it is obvious nothing good will come from leaving these dear animals with these people, so rescue them and find them happy safe forever homes. Sounds like a lot of suffering could have been avoided!!!!!!!!

All the individuals involved should also suffer in the same way. No mercy.

  7. Stephanie Geyser says:

If it was up to me, I’d sentence Michael Wells to be locked up in a filthy stinking flea-infested cell, without any food until he slims down to 77 lbs, and see if he likes it. Let’s hope he NEVER breeds babies from his degenerate sperm, because he’ll probably starve them to death too, while stuffing his fat cakehole with food. God help them.

  8. So it’ says this was done with differnt dogs ?? You never learn ; both with animals and chlidren as well remove them before jts too late !

  9. There is no cure for evil, its best to just dispose of filthy scum like this guy. The judiciary in the US is clearly corrupt and inept, time for a clear out. It is sad to see America gradually become a third world country full of barbaric behaviour from savages. I will never vacation here again because if I witnessed any of this type of abuse I would certainly do something about it unlike the cowards who live there now.
